According to a tweet sent to me by a friend today (see link at bottom of text):

Don’t be impressed by:

1 Money

2 Job titles

4 Degrees

5 Appearances

6 Social Media

7 Big words

Be impressed by:

1 Kindness

2 Trustworthiness

3 Genuine generosity

4 Sincerity

5 Integrity

6 Honesty

7 Optimism

It was a well-intentioned, simple, motivational but benign thought issued out by the Twitosphere, but to my over/active inner monologue, it was a catalyst. I apologize in advance, but I have to let my brain’s ravings loose somewhere, even if they are also simple, benign, and perhaps motivational at times.

This is where I attach my text response to my sweet friend’s kind sharing of an uplifting tweet. Also, I sent this 8 hours after he sent it to me at 11:04pm. I thought that was appropriate. I’m socially inappropriate. So, the text:

‘‘Tis true sir. Those are the lost arts, the waning and devalued characteristics, yet the innate essences necessary to propagate healthy connectivity in this world. And what are we without personal connections to others?
Do we still hold value? Yes.
But we aren’t contributing any of that value to anyone or anything. We are keeping it to ourselves.
“No man is an island”, the Beatles and Donne once sang and said, but sometimes that island sounds like a damn good place to stay for a while, to hide and heal, until we feel ourselves ready to give again of that value, ready to disseminate all of the hearty goodness of those characteristics we should all be impressed by.

This is why I’m starting a blog so I don’t philosophize over texts at 11:04pm. ❤️

*End transmission

This is my way of introducing myself. I’m here for my own selfish reasons. I’m using this site as my island, but I’m not ready to be resigned to living here forever. I’d like to heal here and hide a bit while still admitting that I crave that connectivity by the simple act of writing this blog.
